It's summertime at Aardvark Media
Whilst England's performance at the World Cup disappointed, the tournament provided fertile marketing territory for the retail leisure brands we work with. When Spain reached the final our friends at La Tasca offered all customers who pre-booked free food if Spain won, the campaign was so successful that all available online capacity was 'sold out' and the bars reported astronomical trading (read more about it at the Morning Advertiser).
All client activity now needs a social media dimension, from simple links to Twitter & Facebook to more complex integration via their API's. We're currently working on some exciting projects for Bay Restaurants for the inclusion of user-generated content into their brand websites whilst for Novus we're deep-linking with Facebook as they seek to extend their presence to new users across social media.
We've got a number of web development projects for new clients in progress. We'll be launching the new ecommerce website for leading mind, body, spirit publisher, Hay House in August, with the extranet service for international human resource consultancy byrne·dean following shortly after. We're also re-designing the La Tasca website, and working on a number of exciting new websites for Novus Leisure whilst for Squaremeal we're implementing a shiny new loyalty scheme plus integrating some significant improvements in its search and navigational design.
Our team continues to grow and we've recently welcomed two great new designers and a talented developer to Aardvark Media. Our team now stands at 18 digital experts. We're recruiting now for a traffic manager for the overall management of our workflow and another developer to join our support team. If you'd like to find out more please contact us.

We've just re-designed the secure transaction site for Novus Leisure – otherwise known as ‘Buy.mylatenight’, because Novus have over 38 websites we bundled all the front-end customer transactional features into one site to ensure security.

September 22, 2008 - PRESS RELEASE
Aardvark Media create a new online customer experience for Slug & Lettuce
Bay Restaurant Group’s Slug and Lettuce chain have launched a new customer website, designed and built by us.
The site’s been developed to provide a super-friendly customer experience, delivering a simple and comprehensive reservation process. Importantly there are no third parties or central systems involved; when making enquiries, customers speak directly to the bar staff via the integrated messaging system.
Previously Slug and Lettuce have used ‘Live Bookings’ to manage their online enquiries and the project is a strategic step to push the Slug and Lettuce to the forefront of the UK retail leisure sector. Although the site is still in its infancy, the launch day saw the website generate the same level of enquiries that ‘Live Bookings’ would provide in over three weeks.
The enquiry system is far beyond what any other UK retail leisure operator offers, not only in its ease of use but in terms of its integration with the CRM toolset.
Because all customer enquiries are fed into a central CRM system (which also handles email marketing, vouchers, tickets, menus, events and content management) The Bay Restaurant Group now get a comprehensive, instantaneous view of how the whole business is performing.
The Slug is the first step in a three phase deployment for the Bay Restaurant Group, the companies other brands; Ha Ha and La Tasca will be integrated over the next few months.
We recognise that the current economic environment is challenging for the sector’s customers but we hope to show, through offering the customer a better online experience, that we will deliver exceptional growth in both the number of enquiries and customer sign-ups.
Visit the site at: www.slugandlettuce.co.uk
The site recently received a very positive review from the Industry journal 'New Media Age' (see right).

The website is part of a collection of bar and club booking sites that includes Latenightlondon.co.uk. Owned by Novus Leisure, the new site is designed to deliver a seductive brand environment for regular customers whilst maintaining clear calls to action supporting a friendly, easy booking process.
“Recreating online the essence of a leisure brand like Tiger Tiger is not easy” said Kelly Beard at Novus Leisure. “Aardvark Media has managed to suggest the excitement of Tiger Tiger whilst improving practicality and ease of use.”
To improve functionality and customer experience on the site, We’ve also optimised the ‘conversion funnel’ – the customer journey from enquiry to through to sale. Web designers often make the booking process over complicated, When you go up to pay for something in a shop, you want it to be as quick and easy as possible and it should be the same online.

Aardvark To Launch Online Ad Network for Retail Leisure Sites
In May 2008 we'll formally launch Adharbour.co.uk, the first online ad network targeting retail leisure websites in the UK. It will be free for websites to join the network.
Adharbour.co.uk will provide website publishers and companies in the bar, restaurant and nightclub sector the opportunity to selectively run targeted ad campaigns that have been centrally purchased. Uniquely, the ad network will also allow network members to sell space directly at their website to smaller advertisers and to take payment online in advance.
Thanks to the focus of the network it's expected that advertisers will pay a premium rate, and the network will benefit from campaigns run by bigger advertisers who may previously have considered the individual site traffic too small. To avoid issues of competitor or inappropriate advertising, network members will be able to identify which campaigns they are happy to accept prior to their inclusion.
For advertisers the network will provide them, for the first time, a unique catchment of people who are considering where to socialise, eat, drink and party in the London and the UK. The network will accept all forms of ads and provide a detailed administrative interface to enable improved trafficking decisions with better performance reporting.
If you would like to find out more about Adharbour please email us.

Get Your Voucher (and we'll know)
So Christmas is over and 2008 is upon us. To drive sales we've built a neat microsite for Novus that builds on the voucher system that we developed for them last year. We've put in a host of additional reporting so that we can monitor who's opening and downloading which sales vouchers and when. We'll then be able to reward those customers who exhibit super-loyal behaviour. The vouchers are an important part of the January strategy for Novus and help drive sales in what would be an otherwise quiet month.

Christmas started in earnest for Novus Leisure, London's leading Nightclub, Bar and Restaurant Group in September. It really does seem to get earlier every year, so much so that next year we're going to launch the Christmas site in the first quarter. This year we've built two stylish micro-sites (one for Christmas and the other for New Year's Eve) and linked them both to the eCRM system we developed for them which will allow them to improve the enquiry conversions and track which customer orders what menu, take online deposits and ticket payments and then to report on the performance with a high level of granularity.

Leading private equity fund administrator to offer clients investor service integration
We’ve been commissioned to develop an Application Program Interface (API) for LP-services.info, the investor reporting service for Ipes, Guernsey’s biggest independent private equity fund administrator (funds in excess of $21 billion).
LP-services.info allows the large private equity clients of Ipes to provide their investors with detailed performance reports and personal contact details. The API will allow the service to have closer integration with client websites, so that investors will only need to login at the client site rather than at lp-services.info, allowing the client to demonstrate greater ownership of the investor relationship.
In conjunction with the API we’ve been commissioned by one of the UK’s leading private equity investors HgCapital to develop a secure investor zone for their website. Investors who login to this feature will be automatically logged in to the appropriate parts of lp-services.info via the API.

We've re-designed the event planning portal for London’s biggest bar and club owner
Latenightlondon.co.uk is Novus Leisure’s flagship portal for the core London marketplace. The site provides a lifestyle focused promotional platform for all the venues Novus Leisure operate in the City and West End.
The site has been redesigned based upon analysis of users’ demographic information over the past twelve months. The site now has a greater emphasis on female usage, along with an implied understanding that customers are increasingly from the Flickr and MySpace generation.
The new look Latenightlondon.co.uk presents an integrated Google map on the home page; allowing users to easily locate the venue of their choice, zoom in to see its location and click through to see venue specific events and galleries. Additionally the site now offers a banner “carousel”, where offers and promotions are presented in a scrolling viewer; allowing more deals to be made available to customers without impacting on the design coherence of the site.
Please visit Latenightlondon by going to www.latenightlondon.co.uk.

Novus E-Tickets Drive Growth
Shortly before Christmas we launched an E-Ticketing system for Novus Leisure, the London based operator of large bars and clubs in premium bars in high footfall venues in major urban markets.
Traditionally, New Year’s Eve is the highest turnover night of the year for the sector and it’s customary to sell tickets to guarantee entry (or more) to a venue. With a capacity in excess of 50,000 and a varied range of ticket options Novus Leisure required a system that would allow customers to purchase tickets securely, download them online and via email, and for the system to be capacity managed and integrated with the existing reservations system.
The system we developed proved a great success and helped Novus increase group ticket sales by 40%. Moreover, the system can now be easily utilised for other ticketed and special events throughout the year allowing Novus greater control over promotional activities and maximising their return on investment.
